The textbook presents information on the theory and methods of searching, systematizing and preparing written sources for further scientific use. It is also aimed at developing students' skills in studying the history of the text of literary works and historical documents, their source study affiliation, as well as distinguishing handwritten copies. The textbook contains information on the initial set of knowledge on textual criticism, characteristics and classification of handwritten sources, basic principles of constructing a text, its forms, and methodological instructions. Based on this, the textbook aims to familiarize students of philology with the practical and theoretical aspects of this field.
